Following is a list of persons married by Elder Wm. H. Franklin, of Sam's Creek, this county, who died week before last. The list was taken from his register.

They were married at Sam's Creek Church parsonage, with Elder Franklin officiating, and Casper Baker and Mary L. Brown as witnesses.
Sam's Creek COB, MD, located four miles se, of New Windsor in Carroll Co. Brethren began settling on Sam's Creek about 1740. Elder Martin Urner, Sr. and Martin Urner, Jr. ministered to the Brethren on Sam's Creek after 1751. Meetings were held in homes and the Brown meetinghouse after 1900, then in the Friendship schoolhouse after 1836. The present meetinghouse was built in 1860. Members began asking to separate from the Pipe Creek congregation in 1850, but the Sam's Creek congregation was not independently organized until 1885, with seventy members. A meetinghouse was also built by Sam's Creek and Pipe Creek in 1907. The Sam's Creek congregation had fifty-four members in 1980.
