Journal and Courier (Lafayette, IN) - April 17, 2002 Deceased Name: Victoria L. Smith, 83 Victoria L. Batta Smith, 83, died at 4 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2002, at Rosewalk Village where she had resided the past year. She formerly lived at 1923 Echo St. Born Dec. 4, 1918, in Tippecanoe County, she was a life resident. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had been a waitress and worked in the kitchen at L.S. Ayres for many years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and quilting. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar and Aid Society at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Her marriage was to Herman R. Smith on Oct. 17, 1941, in Lafayette. He died May 13, 1987. Surviving are a daughter, Ann Miller of Lafayette one son, Richard H. "Rick" Smith (wife: Deborah) of West Lafayette two sisters, Mildred Pugh (husband: Ben) and Henrietta Arndt (husband: Raymond), both of Lafayette and three brothers, C. Ed Batta (wife: Gracie), Lawrence Batta (wife: Jeannette) and Carl Batta (wife: Marlene), all of Lafayette. |
