Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 25, in St. Peter's church, Colman, for Jacob Slinger, who died Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the home of a daughter. Pallbearers were six nephews, Gary and Lewis Geraets Henry and Ed Ossefoort and Ed and Walter Slinger. Interment took place in the family lot in Dell Rapids.
Jacob Slinger was born in the The Netherlands on October 29, 1875 and come to the United States at the age of 17, settling in the LeMars, Iowa, vicinity.
In 1906 he married Emma Bruhn of Granville, Iowa, and they made their home in the Marion, N.D., area. Mrs. Slinger died in December 1908. One daughter was born to this union.
In 1912 Mr. Slinger was married to Regina Van Asma in LeMars, Ia., and farmed in the Remsen and Milford, Ia., vicinity until the family moved to Dell Rapids in 1928. One daughter was born to them. Mrs. Slinger died in 1942.
Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. Martha Bauer, Oxnard, Calif., and Mrs. J.P. Geraets (Johanna), Dell Rapids, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother Albert Slinger, Hawarden, Ia.
