A service of remembrance will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St., with Pastor Keith Lauwers officiating. Her cremated remains will be spread over Mount Susitna. Mrs. Hall was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Montague, Mich., to Myrtle and Elmer Buttleman. She had attended two years of college and held a business license and real estate license. She had been a resident of Alaska since 1947. From 1950 to 1965, she worked at the 4th Avenue Theatre and the Denali Theatre as a cashier. In 1960, Mrs. Hall began working for the Alaska Court System and retired in 1983. From 1982 to 1998, she was self-employed at Hall's Anderson Window Shop. Mrs. Hall enjoyed work and learning ‎(higher education)‎. She also enjoyed traveling to Europe, Mexico and the Philippines. Her family wrote, "Gladys was a very hard worker, sometimes working two jobs or working and going to school, at the same time. She had beautiful penmanship. Gladys and her husband, Russ, brought their two young children up the Alaska Highway from Michigan just one month after the highway opened. Gladys went from the comforts of a home with two young toddlers to living in a tent. She loved telling about the early days of living in Alaska. Gladys will be missed by all who loved her." Survivors include her son, Brian Hall of Anchorage; daughter, Pamela Erdle of Anchorage; granddaughter, Alisa Davis of Anchorage; grandsons, Rodney Erdle of Anchorage and Rob Erdle of Eagle River; and great-grandchildren, Breanna Erdle, Gavin Erdle and Garet Erdle of Broken Bow, Okla., Christopher Kirk, Jaeden Erdle and Avry Erdle of Anchorage, Kelsie Erdle of Florida, and Colton Erdle of Eagle River. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Hall. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations for Alzheimer's research to the UCSD Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, 8950 Villa LaJolla Drive, Suite C-129, LaJolla, CA 92037.
