Standard-Examiner (Ogden, UT) - July 10, 2001 Deceased Name: Lewis Pete Slot Together Again OGDEN -- Lewis Pete Slot, 86, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001 at Ogden Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 20, 1915 in West Weber to Gosse and Henrietta Ragharr Slot. He married Esther Cole on September 22, 1934 in Farmington. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 5, 1944. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest and served many years as a Home Teacher while living in the Mound Fort Ward. He was also active in the Ogden 34th Ward and served twice as a Stake Missionary. He owned and operated Slot Brothers Produce with his brother Jerry from 1937 until he retired in 1977. He was a past member of the Utah Grocer's Association, Oakridge Golf and Country Club, Riverside Men's Golf Association. He had 2 "hole in ones". His greatest joy was in his family. Surviving are his children: Gary (Annie) Slot, Ogden; Jacqueline (Lynn) Neilson, Ogden; George Slot, Ogden; Charlene (Norm) Dodgen, Ogden; Lewis (Cindy) Slot, Willard; Connie (Paul) Sackett, Evanston, WY; Kerry (Sheryll) Slot, Warren; 18 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; parents; one sister, Margaret Miller; two brothers, Jerry R. Slot and Harold Slot; grandson, Eddie Fernandez; and great granddaughter, Georgianna Penrod. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., where friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
