Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - November 24, 2001 Deceased Name: Obituary: Jerald Bird Wadley MIDVALE, UTAH - Jerald Bird Wadley, age 60, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, 2001 at his home with his family following a courageous battle with prostate cancer that lasted more than three years. During his strug-gle with cancer, Jerald exhibited great strength and determina-tion. He was always appreciative and kind to those who cared for him. Jerald and his family express their sincere gratitude to the many individuals who so lovingly cared for and watched over Jerald during his illness. Jerald was born on December 30, 1940 in Provo, Utah, the son of Eunice Elizabeth Bird and LaVere J. Wadley. As a young boy he gained a life-long love for electric toy trains, HAM radio and electronics. From 1961 to 1963, he served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Hawaiian Mission. He returned to marry Margaret Peterson on August 26, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. After earning a Masters of Accountancy from Brigham Young University in 1968, he moved to Midvale and began working for Deloitte Haskins and Sells. During his career as a C.P.A. he also worked for St. Mark's Hospital, Intermountain Health Care, Community Nursing Services, Salt Lake Community College and the LDS Church, where he gained the respect of his employers and co-workers as an honest and true man. He served faithfully in many church callings throughout his life in virtually every organization of the church. He served diligently and tirelessly as stake clerk until the Sunday prior to his death. Jerald will be remembered most for his love and dedication to his wife and family. He was a true example to his children of giving and sharing with others. His love for toy trains and Christmas will always be in our hearts. As his grandchildren would say, "All aboard!" He is survived by his wife Margaret Peterson Wadley; father LaVere J Wadley of American Fork, UT; son Richard Peterson Wadley of Carmel, IN; daughter Sharon Lyn Wadley Kime (Rob) of Eugene, OR; son Robert Edward Wadley (Karen) of Midvale, UT; daughter Wendy Carol Wadley of Midvale, UT; daughter Deborah Jane Wadley of Midvale, UT; and sister Marielen Wadley Christensen (Anthony) of Elk Ridge, UT. He was also survived by his grandchildren David Leslie Kime, Nathan Martell Kime, Abigail Elizabeth Kime and Joshua Robert Wadley. Jerald was preceded in death by his mother Eunice Elizabeth Bird Wadley and daughter Brenda Elizabeth Wadley. He is back with them now. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 26, 2001 at 12 noon in the chapel of the LDS Midvale East 3rd Ward, 87 East 7100 South in Midvale. Friends may call at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street in Murray from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2001 and at the ward chapel in Midvale, Monday from 11-11:45 am.
