Obituary:
Dorcas H. Fekken, age 86, of New Era, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009 in Muskegon. She was born August 21, 1923 in Muskegon Heights to Frank and Phllis (Gilliland) Hogston.
She married John Fekken on July 31, 1942. Mrs. Fekken was a 1941 graduate of Shelby High School. She went on to County Normal and taught for five years in country schools. She was employed later as a social worker at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility for twenty rears, retiring in 1987.
Mrs. Fekken was a memer of New Era Bible Church. She was very active in th Women's Missionary Fellowship at curch and was active in AWANA for many years.
She is survived by her husband, John; her children, Marcia (Kurt) Jessup of Gaylord, Roger (Luanne) Fekken of New Era, Ron (Doris) Fekken of New Era, and Suann (Tim) Seid of Richmond, Indiana; her sister Lola (Don) Priese of New Era; sisters-in-law, Florence Hogston of Muskegon and Deloris Hogston of New Era; twenty grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandschildren. She was preceeded in death by her parents; her brothers, Norman, Harold and Douglas Hogston; and her grandson, Brett Jessup.
Visitation is Sunday, November 15, 4-7 pm at Harris FUneral Home and Monday, November 16, 102 pm at New Era Bible Church. The funeral service will be held on Monday, 2 pm at the church with Pastor Robert Sponable officiating. Internment: Neew Era Cemetery. Memorials to New Era Bible Church, 5308 S. Oceana Drive, New Era, Michigan 49446 are appreciated.
