Note |
Muskegon Chronicle, Muskegon, Michigan: LOHMAN, MR. WESLEY A. Montague, MI Mr. Wesley A. Lohman, age 84, completed his journey here on earth on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He was born in Shelby to Victor and Louise Lohman on August 24, 1928. He married the former Doris Fekken on April 9, 1952. They had seven children, David (Vern), Darlene (Jim) Temple, Duane (Linda), Dennis, Dean (Karen), and Darwin (Laura). Their youngest daughter, Debra died in infancy. Mr. Lohman served in the U.S. Army and was employed by New Era Canning Company as a dock manager until his retirement. He was brought up on a farm in a family of 14 children. He continued his love of farming and raised produce and flowers for his family and friends throughout his life. He could often be found plowing the soil or tending to other garden chores. He loved to tinker with machinery in his "hobby-shed" and fix things rather than buy something new. He relished the creativity and challenge each project brought. Wesley and Doris took great pleasure in nurturing their grandchildren with love (and perhaps a bit of spoiling). He leaves his children, grandchildren, and brothers, Donald (Dale) and Alvin (Aletta). Besides his daughter, Mr. Lohman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; brothers, Leo, Martin, Lester and Melvin; and sisters, Lucille, Dorothy, Gertrude, Eunice, Edna, Ethel and Bernice. Visitation joining family and friends will be held Saturday, May 11th, 2-3 PM with the funeral service to follow at 3 PM, all at New Era Bible Church with Pastor Mike DeBlois officiating. Interment will be in New Era Cemetery. Please consider the New Era Bible Church Building Fund, 5308 S. Oceana Drive, New Era, MI 49446, as a memorial. You may get directions or leave a message for the family at www.harrisfhome.com. Harris, Shelby 861-2360 or 1-888-216-9744 |
