From Sun-Herald, Flordia Obituaries published 7/26/2006 Richard J. Vanderkolk, 79, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, July 20, 2006, with family and friends present. He was born April 1, 1927, in Tippecanoe County, Ind. Richard served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a retired pipe fitter from Local 597. Richard was a member of the American Legion, Eagles and Moose Lodge, all in Punta Gorda. He is survived by his best friend, Millie Babcock; sons, Robert (Christy) Vanderkolk and Russell Vanderkolk; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Carrie Vanderkolk; and daughter, Susan Hehir. Memorial services at the American Legion are pending. |
