From Lafayette Journal & Courier Obituaries PUBLISHED: 01-19-07 Grace A. Kirts Batta, 85, of Lafayette, died at 7:25 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Born Jan. 2, 1922, to the late James Kirts and Iola McKinney Kirts in Attica, she was a life resident of Lafayette. Her marriage was to C. Edward Batta on July 24, 1943, in Crew, Va., and he survives. Mrs. Batta was a homemaker and secretary for Batta Builders before retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Pleasant Grove Grange, the St. Rita Study Club and Cairo Home Ec Club. Surviving are three sons, Tony Batta (wife: Janine) of Lafayette, Tom Batta of Battle Ground and Tim Batta (wife: Donna) of West Lafayette. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 2 stepgrandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Father William R. Vath officiating. Interment Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lafayette.
