Lafayette Journal and Courier - Published March 22, 2006 Charles E. Halsema, 68, of Lafayette, died at 3:44 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, at Home Hospital in Lafayette. Born May 25, 1937, to the late Edward and Viola Neal Halsema in Lafayette, he was a 1956 graduate of Jefferson High School. His marriage was to Linda L. Haynes on Jan. 4, 1958, in Lafayette, and she survives. Mr. Halsema was a Lafayette firefighter for 27 years, retiring as captain. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, hunting and restoring old cars. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Janet A. Dawson (husband: Ted) of Lafayette; two sons, Charles D. Halsema (wife: Dawn) of Lafayette and Thomas D. Halsema (wife: Kim) of Jamestown; two brothers, Harles E. Halsema (wife: Phyllis) and Mark Halsema (wife: Robin), both of Lafayette; and a sister, Joyce M. Kinslow (companion: Alan Gish) of Frankfort. |
