Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - February 16, 1999 Deceased Name: Isabrand "Wes" Westbroek OGDEN--After a brief 29 months, Dad and Mom were reunited on February 14, 1999. Dad passed away at the home of his oldest daughter, Elaine, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with diabetes and leukemia. Wes was born June 1, 1911 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Herman J. Westbroek and Dina Sander. He will be remembered for his talents as a painter, during which time he assisted in cleaning the rotunda dome of the Utah State Capitol, and painted the Cathedral of the Madeleine, and numerous other buildings. Injuries brought a change in his career and he spent many years in sales with General Paint Co., Sherwin-Williams, and Bennett's Paint, from which he retired. Wes married his sweetheart, Ereita Jorgensen, March 29, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple. He met Ereita for the first time at the train station in Salt Lake City, upon completion of his LDS mission to the Southern States, having corresponded with her most of his two-year mission. They were blessed with six children, Duane (Annette), Floyd (Sally), Keith (Bonnie), Elaine (Kent Coles), Ereita (Nathan Zimmerman), and Daryl (Pam). Wes was a valiant servant in the LDS Church, having served in many positions in the wards and stakes in Salt Lake and Ogden throughout his life. Wes is survived by his children and the following brother and sisters, Herman (Rhea), Evelyn Bingham, Adella (Kenneth Pebley), Helen (Donal Burnett). He is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren and 14 step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister, Adrianna (d'Hulst Peterson), one grandchild and one great grandchild. Friends are invited to celebrate his life with family members from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 1999 at Larkin Mortuary, 24th and Adams Avenue, in Ogden. Services will be held Thursday, February 18, at the Mortuary at 11 a.m., where friends may call one hour prior to services. He will be laid to rest in the Ogden City Cemetery. Thanks, Dad, for a lifetime of love, example and for being such a gentleman. Happy Valentine's Day Mom and Dad. Source: Obituaries - GenealogyBank |
