BATTLE GROUND - Lena A. Wilson Batta, 89, of 1613 N. County Road 1275 W., died at 9:32 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
Born Jan. 26, 1914, in Hoxie, Ark., she came to this area in 1921 and attended Linnwood and Longlois grade schools and Jefferson High School. She married Joseph A. Batta on July 18, 1942, in Lafayette, and he died March 15, 1998.
Mrs. Batta was a switchboard operator and a cashier.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Altar Society, Rosary Study Club, Ladies of Charity, St. Boniface White Elephant Shop and Pleasant Grove Grange. She was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 27 years. She was in the choir at St. Boniface for several years and was a former member of the Festival Singers.
Surviving are a daughter, Julie Lamb (husband: Robert) of Lafayette, and a brother, John C. Wilson (wife: Rosemary) of Colburn.
