Adrian, MN - Elmer "Chick" E. Efting, age 81, of Adrian, died Thursday, November 14, 2002, at the Arnold Memorial Health Care Center, in Adrian, after a short bout with lung cancer. He was born February 25, 1921, in Sheldson, IA, to Gerritt and May (Druger) Efting. Chick attended school in Sibley, IA. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army.
Chick married Mary Eshleman on May 9, 1945, in Aurora, CO. Shortly after their marriage, the couple returned to Adrian. Later, they started Chick's Produce, in Adrian, buying eggs from area farmers, for twenty-five years. In 1967, they moved to Pierre, SD, where Chick worked at the ASCS Office. In 1993, they returned to Adrian.
He enjoyed golfing, square dance calling, fishing & dogs.
Chick is survived by his wife, Mary Efting, Adrian daughter and son-in-law, Jo & Dale McClure, Jasper son, Bill Efting, Avon, CO four grandchildren, Angela Efting, Lindsay Efting, Brady Efting, and Casey Efting and beloved dog, Chelsea.
Visitation will be 4-7 PM Sunday at the United Methodist Church, in Adrian. Visitation continues for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday, Funeral will be at 1:30 PM Monday, at the United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. John Strunk. Burial will be at the Adrian Cemetery.
Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, is in charge of arrangements.
