Obituary: Oceana Harold September 9, 1982 Jake Fekken New Era - Jake B. Fekken, 70, of 2682 Blair Avenue, New Era, passed away unexpectedly early last Wednesday morning, Sept. 1, at Lakeshore Community Hospital. He was born Oct. 7, 1911 in Chicago, the son of Benjamin and Winifred Bottema Fekken. He joined the former Jeanette D. Pranger in marriage Nov. 28, 1934, in New Era. Mr. Fekken had lived in Oceana County for many years ans was employed at Sealed Power Corp. for 31 years before his retirement. He was a member of the New Era Reformed Church. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; two sons, Edward of New Era and Leroy of Rothbury; five brothers, Fancis, John, Benjamin Jr. and Ray Fekken, all of New Era, and Harold Fekken of Rothbury; two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Winifred) Plescher of Whitehall and Mrs. Wesley (Doris) Lohman of Montague, and four grandchildren. A son, Howard, passed away in 1969, a sister, Genevieve Houseman, in 1970, and a granddaughter, Lisa Fekken, in 1968. Funeral services for Mr. Fekken were at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the New Era Reformed Church, with Keith Meyering officiating. Internment was in New Era Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Cooper-Harris Funeral Home. |
